The club is very active when it comes to social events and has built up a fine reputation for innovation over the past decade.
The events are organised by the Social Committee whose members are always on the lookout for new ways of entertaining the membership. Popular events have included the monthly prize draws when up to 130 plus members can be present enjoying an inexpensive meal, and light entertainment prior to the main attraction of the evening – the winner of the main prize money as well as amazing raffle prizes.
Tribute Acts; Comedy Nights; Jazz Evenings; Swing bands; Trick Shot Golf Shows; and Summer Parties have all proved to be a popular formula, as have the Gourmet evenings laid on by the club’s chef, Darren, and his team. Again, these events are provided at relatively little cost. Bookings are usually undertaken on a first come, first served basis on a booking sheet in the main entrance hall. Such is the demand for many of these functions, the places are soon snapped up.
Something for everyone
More formal activities include, for example, the Captain’s Dinner or the Lady Captain’s Lunch; other sections within the club celebrate on a similar basis. The management doesn’t forget the children of club members and a party is organised for them at Christmas: this can be great fun and is always well supported. The juniors – under 18 years from 1st Jan each year – have their own Xmas Party following a ‘round’ on the course earlier that morning.
As a supplement to the entertainments mentioned above, the club offers the members the chance, on Mondays or Thursdays (depending on the time of year), to play bridge in a relaxed atmosphere. The Ladies’ Section boasts a series of first and second team league fixtures for the more serious player. .
Many other opportunities to join in with the social side of the club occur throughout the year which can also prove to be very popular, so members are always advised to ‘book early’
