The ‘Bran Buds’ is an informal gathering of golfers who currently meet at 10.15 every Wednesday morning. Numbers vary from 12 to 30 depending on availability and the weather.
Players normally go out in threes with balls being drawn out of a bag to determine each playing group. On the first Wednesday of each month there is an individual Stableford competition with prizes awarded. Scores recorded are also entered onto an eclectic score sheet (the idea being to improve the score on each hole throughout the year). There are also prizes at the end of the year for the best gross and Stableford point scores.
On other Wednesdays in the month two ‘fun’ competitions take place - being a swindle with the best two out of three scores counting, or a Texas Scramble (a really fun game).
Each year, two social events are organised by the Bran Buds for members i.e. a summer evening supper where partners are invited, and a Christmas dinner where the prizes for the eclectic competition are awarded. All new and existing members are welcome to come along and join in the fun. For further information please contact the club’s office.
